Coursera stock surged on Friday after the online learning platform reported strong second-quarter adjusted profit and boosted its revenue guidance for the full year.
Shares rose 35% to $12.26, putting them on track for a new 52-week closing high and the largest same-day percentage increase since a 45% jump in July 2024, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The benchmark S&P 500 index rose 0.3%.
The steep gains came after Coursera reported adjusted earnings of 12 cents a share, above the 9 cents Wall Street had anticipated. Revenue came in at $187.1 million in the quarter, topping the $180.5 million consensus estimate among analysts polled by FactSet.
On a non-GAAP basis, the company posted a loss of 5 cents, narrower than the 15-cent loss reported in the same period last year.
Coursera raised its revenue outlook for the full year to a range of $738 million to $746 million, up from $720 million to $730 million previously.
