Jeff Bezos, founder and executive chairman of Amazon.com, sold another 6.6 million shares for $1.5 billion on Monday and Tuesday.
The sales, disclosed via a Wednesday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, mean he has now unloaded a total of 95 million shares in 2024 and 2o25 via so-called 10b5-1 trading plans, for a total of $18.2 billion.
Insiders use the plans, which automatically execute trades when preset conditions, such as price, volume, and timing, are met, to remove the appearance that they might benefit from their access to nonpublic information.
Bezos isn’t done. He has another 4.6 million shares worth a billion dollars remaining on his current trading plan, his fourth in the past 18 months.
Even after the latest sales, Bezos still owns over a billion Amazon shares worth $232 billion.
Also in 2024 and 2025, Bezos also gave 4.5 million shares, worth about a billion dollars, to charity.
