Nvidia was rising early on Thursday, in line with the wider semiconductor sector amid relief about broad exemptions for planned U.S. chip tariffs.
Nvidia shares were up 1.5% at $182.04 in premarket trading. The stock rose 0.7% on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he would put a roughly 100% tariffs on all chips coming into the U.S., but exempt companies that have promised to manufacture domestically. That is likely to include Nvidia’s key supplier, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing .
Nvidia declined to comment on how the tariffs are likely to affect the company.
Among other chip makers, Advanced Micro Devices was rising 2.1% and Broadcom was up 1% in premarket trading.
